In Nepal, yogic tradition, and many other cultures it means, 'the light in me sees and honors the light in you'. What a lovely way to greet someone, always presenting a reminder for us to see each person as their own wonderful unique being.
I'm Sara. I am lucky enough to live in the breathtakingly beautiful western mountains of Maine.
Describing myself is hard because using specific terms or names for oneself, however silly it may seem creates self limitations or a sense of identifying with 'that thing' and maybe only that thing. Titles and descriptions also creates perceptions and ideas in peoples heads about what or who you are based on what you do or have done. So for this about me, here are some things that I have done and like to do. Only all of them together can make up even a portion of my identity.
200 Hour Yoga Teacher
Children's Yoga Teacher
Elementary/Special Education Teacher
Maine Recreational and Sea Kayak Guide
Outdoor Education Teacher
Through all of these things I have learned some things about myself:
I love creating something from nothing.
I find it incredible that yeast + water + flour can be combined together to make delicious bread,
and that bark and metal can make gorgeous earrings.
Also, that a variety of colors can come together so make a beautiful design.
To me, happiness is more important than money.
So many people go through life miserable or stressed at their jobs. I don't know how long I will be here - none of us do, so I have decided I want to enjoy my life now, not when I retire. So for me, if part of that means I don't do certain things because I need down time, then I am working to accept that.
My blog will also reveal some things about me if you'd like to get to know me better :)
